RECENT WORK
Relaunching the
Buenos Aires Herald
I was managing editor for the digital transformation of a prestigious legacy publication.
In late 2022, I joined a team of talented journalists to relaunch the Buenos Aires Herald, a 150-year-old English-language newspaper that closed in 2017, as a news website. For three years, I guided, edited and produced coverage of major international news stories including President Javier Milei's political rise and relationship with Trump, Argentina's 2025 IMF agreement, and the death of Pope Francis.
I also developed ambitious collaborative enterprise and features projects about the human rights agenda. These included the Operation Condor Files, in which we worked with academic specialists to produce a series of stories and social media videos about the victims of Operation Condor.
As a newsroom leader, I worked closely with the editor-in-chief to develop editorial strategy, blending journalistic judgement, analytical data, and human connection with our readers to discover how to meet the news needs of our unique audience.
The role also involved frequent meetings with key stakeholders, sources and institutions, as well as presenting the Herald everywhere from university classrooms to journalism conferences.
Reporting from Bolivia, Argentina and across Latin America
EARLIER WORK
Over a decade covering the region for some of the world's largest outlets.
Between 2015 and 2026, I produced written, audio and photojournalism from Bolivia and Argentina for The Guardian, the BBC, Vice, Foreign Policy, Al Jazeera, Lonely Planet, and dozens of other publications.
I believe in journalism that moves the needle: my reporting on Bolivia's 2019 political crisis was referenced in a letter from Bernie Sanders to the U.S. Congress, while a scoop on delivery workers being made to carry drugs beat Argentina's national press and was described by local readers as "one of the stories of the year."
My reporting takes a feminist and decolonial perspective, centring local experiences and voices.
In 2014, I received the Izethelo award for journalism on the South African fruit industry as part of the FOODNEWS team. A feature I co-authored for the Norwegian Air magazine won "Best Latin America Round-up Feature" at the LATA Media awards.
While living in Cochabamba, Bolivia, I worked as director of Performing Life International's social circus programme, leading a team of up to eight staff and volunteers across two centres. Our project was highlighted in the 2019 United Nations Youth Solutions report.
